Send a referral to anyone by email. Or copy your custom invite link and paste it anywhere you like.
Step 3: Get free space
Once a referral creates a new account, you both get extra storage: 500 MB for Basic users and 1 GB for Plus.

Yes! As long as they sign up up for an account through the referral link in your invitation, you'll earn referral bonus space. They don’t need to use the email address where you sent the invite to sign up for Dropbox.
Sharing a folder does not count as a referral.
